Chococival 2017

 SWEET SUCCESS AT BRINDLEYPLAC

Birmingham’s first chocolate festival, Chocival, was back at Brindleyplace for a sweet second year on Saturday 21 October with plenty of cocoa-based treats and a chocolate gunge tank in aid of Birmingham St. Mary’s Hospice.

Taking place in Central Square at Brindleyplace between 11am and 6pm, Chocival was choc-a-block with stalls selling a range of indulgent and unusual chocolate products as well as entertainment, demonstrations and live music.

As if it was not enough of the lovely stuff - Central Square played home to a chocolate gunge tank, which over the two days on site saw volunteers from local business get gunged for charity. The "gunge your boss" and "gunge a mate" campaigns provided some side-splitting entertainment for visitors and raised a fantastic amount for St. Mary`s Hospice, who are one of the charity partners for 2017. The chocolate gunge tank was open to the public to gunged  their family and friends. It costed only £25 to signed up someone else in advance and if you raised  £100 you would even to be able to pull the leaver.
Live band performances took place at The Water`s Edge and there were a number of children`s chocolate decorating activities offered by the stall holders, which proved to be extremely popular.

The first Chocolate festival in Birmingham was a huge hit, with city`s chocoholics visiting Brindleyplace in their thousands, but this year the event was bigger and better and the previous year with more stalls, live chocolate demonstrations and children`s decorating activities.
I am curious what is going to be the next chocolate festival - Chococival 2018.

Chocolate Festival  Birmingham

Birmingham is a chocolate city. Home to the world famous Cadbury World and Bournevile sites, it is a city with a history drenched in chocolate.  From John Cadbury selling drinking chocolate in Bull Street, Birmingham city centre in 1824 to launching the UK`s first mass produced milk chocolate with The Dairy Milk bar in 1905.

With this step history in chocolate, we only thought it fair that Birmingham should host an annual chocolate festival, where people could come and try weird, wonderful and delicious chocolate treats and variations. That was Birmingham Chocolate festival 2016 and 2017 and will counting to the future. 2018 promises to be more than grandiose...
